What is the Litigants in Person service?
Are you trying to manage court without legal representation? If yes, you are a ’Litigant in Person’.
Our Litigants in Person service exists to help people who are not eligible for legal aid but have experienced domestic abuse to secure the court orders needed to provide protection for themselves and their children or to obtain financial orders.
Our specialist advisers can assist you through the court processes relating to civil injunctions (non-molestation orders and occupation orders), transfer of tenancy orders under the Family Law Act, divorce proceedings including financial orders and child arrangement orders
How does this service differ from general advice?
This is a specialist service for clients and their families in our community who have been affected by domestic abuse. You can get help from this service if:
- You have experienced domestic abuse, and
- You need advice about your rights or help with court action, and
- You are not eligible for Legal Aid
