Families across Somerset are struggling with a range of financial, relationship, employment, benefits and housing issues.
Citizens Advice exists to help people resolve their problems and find a way forward, but we can’t do it without our incredible volunteers.
Our Adviceline is a free to use telephone advice service that plays a vital role in supporting people all across Somerset. The five local Citizens Advice charities are working together to run Adviceline and support the growing number of people that need advice.
People across Somerset need your advice
We desperately need people like you to join our team of home-based volunteers delivering vital advice to local people over the phone.
Is volunteering right for me?
Can you …
- Listen with an open mind
- Put people at their ease and explain things clearly
- Use internet resources to research and prepare advice
- Type, use computers and online applications reasonably confidently
- Able to commit to a 12 week training programme
- Volunteer for 4 – 6 hours a week once trained
- Enjoy learning new skills?
Then you have everything you need to be a fantastic adviser. Our volunteers tell us that the longer they volunteer with us the more rewarding they find their role.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, and you don’t need any specialist knowledge – Somerset’s Advice Academy Free training will give you all you need.
