Citizens Advice Somerset is a member of the National Citizens Advice network.
We can all face problems that seem complicated or feel distressing. At Citizens Advice we believe that no one should have to face these problems alone and without access to good quality, independent advice. This is why we are here; to give our clients the knowledge, advice and confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are and whatever the problem.
People come to us with all sorts of issues. You may have money or housing problems, you may be facing a crisis or just considering your options. We provide free, confidential and impartial advice. This means that you can be sure our advice is independent of any undue or commercial influence.
We are trained and qualified to provide advice on many issues including:
- Welfare benefits (including Universal Credit)
- Debt & Money
- Housing
- Family
- Employment
- Immigration
- Discrimination
- Help with food or fuel vouchers for those facing crisis due to financial hardship
No other national membership organisation sees as many clients from so many different backgrounds as Citizens Advice and this gives us a unique insight into the challenges people are facing. With the right evidence we can show big organisations – from companies right up to central government – how they can make things better for people. By helping people with the underlying causes of their problems and making sure those problems don’t get worse, we save the government and public services lots of money every year.
Last year Citizens Advice Somerset helped over 22,000 people. Read about the difference we made in Somerset in 2023-2024.
We have a responsibility, and are committed to, understanding the difference we make to the people we help and communities across Somerset. We use this learning to shape the service we provide so that people can get advice in the way that works for them and meets their needs. Understanding our intended impact and what we actually achieved is vital.
Review our plan for now and the coming years, which we update based upon a review of our aims, objectives and service plans discussed at our annual Away Day.
