Support Us

Citizens Advice Somerset is a local charity that has been supporting people living and working in Somerset for nearly 85 years.

Your support is vital in helping us make a difference

A lot has changed since we first opened our doors but our commitment to providing free and independent advice, especially for the most vulnerable remains unchanged. As an independent charity we rely on grant funding and the support of people like you to continue to make a difference.

Any help – large or small – will go a long way toward providing direct support for people in hardship in Somerset or increasing our capacity to train volunteers and deliver more advice.

If you’d like to help us ensure that everyone has somewhere trusted to turn to for free and accessible help and advice, you can support us in the following ways:

Last year...

we delivered our service with the support of over 120 volunteers and 70 paid staff.

Our impact reached...

over 23,000 Somerset residents and we achieved over £5.1 million in income gains for our clients, which in turn benefits the whole county.

Every Penny Counts...

£30 will provide a telephone license for a volunteer to provide advice call backs to a clients.

£450 will provide a Chromebook - the device our volunteers use when advising clients.

£1800 will train one of our dedicated volunteers to the advice quality standard.

Individual Giving

Are you interested in donating to a particular project, or would like to thank Citizens Advice Somerset for support that you received? Making a one off donation or a monthly standing order is the perfect way to do this.

Whatever you can afford will always be appreciated and will ensure we can continue to support those most in need in Somerset.

If you want to donate to a particular specialist service, please make this known at the time of donation, as any funds will otherwise be used to provide advice to as many people as possible through early help and prevention.

For 2024 we are Oake Manor’s Club Captain’s Charity of the Year. So there will be a real mix of events, including an ABBA night, a charity golf day, a James Bond casino night and dinner!

We put on a number of events across the year to raise our profile and increase our funds. Have fun and support your local advice charity…

We are fortunate and grateful to have received support from both local and National funders and Trusts – these can be seen in our supporter list below.

Our current funding enables us to deliver some exceptionally relevant specialist services providing advice at a critical time and tackling disadvantage.

If you are a Trustee from a local or national Grant Giving Trust and wish to know more about our projects and charitable activities, please do not hesitate to contact us at                                      [email protected]

Remember us in your will

Remembering Citizens Advice Somerset by leaving a gift in your will, no matter what size, will have a lasting impact on the support that we are able to provide to the community.

Did you know that you could save £400 – or more – of inheritance tax for every £1,000 you leave to charity? (but please take tax advice). Even 1% can help us make a real difference to people who need advice in Somerset.

The only information you need for your will is our name, Citizens Advice Somerset and our charity number 1054134. Imagine what you can help us achieve.
